TaleWorlds Entertainment confirmed recently that they are targeting console for the sword heavy game Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord. Though there's no established date yet, the game is rumored to be out in the shelves next year. Its developer is doing everything to retain the sandbox feeling of the Bannerlord.
In an interview with Armagan Yavus (via Game Reactor), he was quoted saying:
"PC is always our main focus, so that's our first priority. We will hopefully also be able to target consoles for Bannerlord as well."
The site added that although there is no official release date planned for Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord, Yavus did suggested that the game will be out next year.
In the official website of Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord, the game was described according to the video presented during the Gamescom in Cologne, Germany.
The video presented the gameplay of Bannerlord which includes some of the siege weapons. The siege weapons is an enormous step for sieges in Mount & Blade. All siege weapons are usable by the player as well as the AI. The players should construct the weapons first.
Another feature of the game as describe by the blog post is the world map and village management. The developer improved the look and feel of Calradia. Castles are now fully unified with villages. The villages have four sides divided into different types of production, with the option that one side can be turned into a castle.
Aside from that the game offer a new feature in weapon crafting. The player is provided with freedom in and connection to the weapon they use and also create unique weaponry in the game world. The weapon crafting retain the sandbox feeling of the game.
It was recalled by PC Gamer that game developer would like to preserve the sandbox feeling of the game at the same time making it more accessible.
"The best way to do that, I think, is to make a storyline so that the player, when they start, has various goals, has a quest and knows what to do and how to proceed. Once they have proceeded a little bit, and know how to play the game, then the storyline should take a backstep and just give the player general goals and options," game developer said as cited in PC Gamer.
With the improvement of the Mount & Blade 2: Bannerlord in terms of gameplay, it is worth the wait until 2016.
