As of now, Netflix has not released any official statement if "Longmire" Season 5 will continue, as Deadline reports. However, if the series ever becomes renewed, it may run for as long as 10 seasons. "Longmire" was originally from A&E. The network cancelled the 3rd season after garnering a large audience from a less important demographic. Afterwards, Netflix picked the series up to renew season 4.
Because of this, many fans have been wondering why Netflix is taking so long to decide whether they will cancel or renew "Longmire" Season 5. According to Carter Matt, Netflix is waiting to see the ratings of the show and currently, it is too early for them to tell whether season 4 was a hit.
Meanwhile, showrunner John Coveny told Yahoo! TV about his plans for the show. Coveny stated, "We threw a lot of knives in the air in season 3, and we've caught a lot of them in season 4. When we pitched the series to Netflix, they talked about how long we want to keep the show going. Realistically, we have seasons 8, 9, and 10 in our heads; it's a rich world, and we're just beginning to scratch the surface of it."
