Motorola has been considered as one of the manufacturers to quickly roll out the latest updates from Google. In fact, the Moto X Pure Edition 2015 is rumored to be one of the first to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.
The Lenovo-owned company recently launched the phone earlier this year. It runs Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box. It isn't outdated unlike some of its predecessors, but it's good that it will receive the newest update.
Google launched the update recently. It was first seen in the new LG Nexus 5X and the Huawei Nexus 6P phones. Many are expecting that Motorola's devices will receive the update sooner than other smartphone manufacturers.
The company is reportedly testing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update for the Moto X Pure Edition 2015, according to Gotta be Mobile. So-called "soak tests" have been informally conducted.
This means that several testers are already experiencing the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Another formal test will be conducted before Motorola rolls out the update globally.
Google's newest update brings a couple of improvements and new features to the table. It includes the new Doze feature that will hibernate any apps that aren't essential to the user, leading to a significantly improved and prolonged battery life.
Some of the confirmed Motorola smartphones to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is the Moto X2 Pure Edition and the Moto X Style (Pure Edition), according to Android Standard. Both phones plus the Moto X Pure Edition 2015 are expected to receive the update within November and December.
Unfortunate news for the Moto X 1st Gen users as they won't be receiving the update. The phone wasn't included in the list for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update from Motorola.
For users who would like a new Moto X Style type of phone, they could also grab the new Droid Turbo 2 from Verizon. It sports the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 SoC, according to Engadget.
Motorola is continually releasing updates quickly than the other manufacturers. Moto X Pure Edition 2015 users could expect the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update soon.
