HTC recently rolled out its new One A9 smartphone. Straying away from their design heritage, the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow device looks similar to the Apple iPhone 6.
The new phone from the Taiwanese tech company copies the minimalist design cues from Apple. Even the camera bump is also another similar design feature.
However, unlike the iPhone 6, the HTC One A9 has a capacitive home key button. The button can't be pressed in, according to The Verge. It works in tandem with the fingerprint reader to easily unlock the device.
HTC's new phone is also light and thin, which makes it easy to hide in a pocket. Despite those qualities, the phone is still sturdy enough to be carried around all day.
HTC One A9 Specs
The phone sports a 5-inch display with 1920 x 1080 pixels in resolution. Because the screen size is not as big, the pixel density is quite decent. Too bad it didn't have a QHD resolution.
For the processor, the HTC One A9 has Qualcomm's Snapdragon 617 SoC with the 64-bit octa-core CPU. It is coupled with 2GB of RAM for the 16GB internal storage variant, according to Digital Trends. While the 32GB model has 3GB of RAM.
Benchmark scores for the phone is impressive. Under the Geekbench app, the phone scored 735 for the single-core test and 2959 for the multi-core test. It doesn't come close to the iPhone 6's benchmark scores of 2292 and 4293, respectively, but it still has a place in the middle.
The HTC One A9's 13MP back shooter has an aperture of f/2.0, which is good for low light situations. It also has the Hyperlapse feature and optical image stabilization (OIS). Users can also tweak settings through the manual mode.
For now, the phone only costs $400. However, HTC will eventually raise it to $500. It's a good idea to buy now rather than later.
The HTC One A9 looks like an iPhone 6 but with a considerably lower price. Will it be enough for the company to profit more?
