Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo Finally Receives Anticipated Official Android 5.1.1 Lollipop Update

By

Users of the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo will now finally be able to receive the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update, which was promised by the South Korean tech giant earlier this year.

Despite being over a year old, the device was not forgotten by Samsung. However, not everyone will be able to receive the update yet.

For now, the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update is available for Samsung Galaxy Note Neo 3 users in South Korea, according to GSM Arena. Users can choose to download the update over-the-air (OTA) or via the KIES platform.

The update supports the SM-N750S, SM-N750K and the SM-N750L models of the phone. For the other parts of the globe, they will be receiving the update soon. However, there is no confirmed release date yet.

Users are advised to make space for about 1GB for the update, which is about 900MB. All the goodies of the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop are included such as the new TouchWiz UI which comes from Material Design, according to Android Geeks.

Improvements include a new lockscreen, icons and a new notification bar. Performance and security patches are also part of the new update.

The Galaxy Note 3 Neo can still rock the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. It is powered by the company's Exynos 5260 chipset and 2GB RAM, according to Mobipicker.

For those who can't just sit and wait for the official update to reach their models, they can search XDA forums as developers could have already modified a working ROM. However, the method is only advised for experienced Android tinkerers.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo SM-N750 international version still has no Lollipop update yet. No word on when Samsung will roll out the Android 5.1.1 update for the said model.

Samsung's update roll out is quite late considering that Google already launched the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. In addition, the LG Nexus 5X and the Huawei Nexus 6P were also launched.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo users will finally experience the taste of the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. International version users will have to wait though.
