The premise of facing ones fears with the help of an unlikely friend is the foundation of Pixar's The Good Dinosaur, and director Peter Sohn explained the changes the film went through during production. Meanwhile new Easter Egg is rumored to have been found in the film's trailer.
After the block buster success of Inside Out, Pixar is moving on with a project that is set on predated times. Coming Soon cited that a tv spot was released for the film which takes on the question 'What if the asteroid that forever changed life on Earth missed the planet completely and giant dinosaurs never became extinct?'.
The Good Dinosaur centers on an atypical friendship developed between Spot, the little boy who acts like a dog, and Arlo, the Apatosaurus who is looking for his way home to his family. It will tackle on themes about overcoming fears and discovering one's capabilities.
The project has also sparked talks due to the extensive changes in the story implemented mid-way through production which subsequently caused alterations in the cast and laying off 70 people in the crew. However, according to Independent, director Peter Sohn said that it was done in order to better the project.
"We worked on everything and everything changed in terms of the character designs and the world [of the film] itself", Sohn said. Furthermore, he admitted that he found the project challenging, but also noted that the changes implemented were important.
"It is challenging. If it's the most challenging out of the other ones [Pixar films], don't know. Most of the films I've worked on have gone through some really tough times. This one for me is challenging only because I love Bob and the changes that happened were really ... it was fast but it was important because everyone's priority, including Bob's, was to try to make the best movie possible." Sohn revealed.
Meanwhile, a new Easter Egg might have been spotted in the trailer. Movie News Guide reported that a Reddit user by the name of Lannisterdwarf recently pointed out a resemblance between the dinosaur in Inside Out and one in the upcoming adventure flick. However, what most Pixar fans are curious about is whether or not the Pizza Planet truck which is believed to have appeared in all of Pixar's projects will appear in the film as well given that it is set in prehistoric times.
The Good Dinosaur will be Sohn's directorial debut, after he took over the position which was previously attached to Bob Peterson . It is written by Meg LeFauve and is currently slated to hit theaters on November 25, 2015.
