Samsung promised early this year that the Galaxy Note 3 Neo phablet will be receiving the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop update. October 27, the South Korean tech company fulfilled that promise.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo was launched back in February 2014. The update has now been rolled out in the company's home country, South Korea. The company released the update through both OTA and via KIES for model numbers SM-N750L, SM-N750K, and SM-N750S. Note 3's in other regions are expected to get it in the coming weeks as GSM Arena recalls.
Users are advised to reserve up to 1GB of extra space for the 900MB that the operating system upgrade will take up. Android Geeks has reported that all of Android 5.1.1's anticipated features will be present in the update including TouchWiz UI created by Material Design.
Other Samsung devices are expected to receive the update such as the Samsung Galaxy S5, which was also announced to be Anroid 5.1.1 ready. As Google continues to roll out more news on the release date of Android 6.0 Marshmallow for other OEMs, the truth is that it can take time for all recent devices to be awarded the OS update. So for now, most of the devices will have to shoot for 5.1.1 for the time being.
