Huawei is planning to update its phones to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in the coming months. The Chinese company plans to issue a beta version for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Primarily, the smartphone company is aiming to issue the new Android OS to its Honor 7 model in four weeks' time.
Huawei marketing executive Xi Zhao announced the news at a meeting in Berlin, Germany, Tech Times noted. The report also commented that the issuance of Android 6.0 beta to Honor 7 is just a public experiment before releasing the new Android OS to other Huawei devices. If this is the case, users can expect for the update to occur by December or early 2016.
For this reason, Android Headlines mentioned that smartphone manufacturers take time to update its devices to improve or change its operating system, to be able to produce more extra features and customizations. It only implies that various companies announce their plans of issuing the new Android OS in its devices, but none of them have identified the specific date of getting updated. More so, updating to the new software version is complex that a test to some devices is needed before releasing the final builds and become available to all models. Other carriers need to wait as well for the approval of locked version on some phones.
In this regard, related report said that Google and Huawei have collaborated with each other to mainly speed things up during updates to new software version. That being said, the confirmed Huawei phones that will receive Android 6.0 in the coming months are Huawei P8, Mate 7, Mate S, P8 Youth Edition, P8 Max, G8 Chinese Variant, G7 Plus, G7, Honor 7i, Honor 6 Plus, Honor 6, X2, 4X and Play 4C, according to the report.
Meanwhile, Huawei users need to wait for the announcement on the exact date of release for the new Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Software updates are commonly sent via OTA, while other users can also do it manually by checking the settings of the phone.
