"Narcos", the Netflix series that follows the rise and fall of Pablo Escobar's drug empire found itself in an enviable position when barely a week of its release, the streaming giant immediately announced its renewal for a second season. There were only 10 episodes in the first season and fans who had binge watched could not wait to get more of the addicting series.
The first season of "Narcos" told the story of Escobar when he started his cocaine trade and eventually established his multi-billion dollar drug cartel that made him one of the wealthiest men in the world. According to Crossmap, Season 1 covered the years from 1989 to 1992 when Escobar escaped from his prison he named La Catedral.
It is easy to speculate that the second season of "Narcos" will be covering the life of Escobar from his escape until his death in the latter part of 1993. It would also seem that the manhunt for Escobar will take up much of Season 2. The addition of Eric Lange to play the role of a CIA agent firms up this speculation.
iDigital Times reports on the speculation that "Narcos" Season 2 might have a late summer release or August 2016 to be more specific as this coincides with the previous programming schedule of Netflix.
Meanwhile, Wagner Moura, who plays Pablo Escobar in the series, talked about his preparations in portraying the Colombian cartel kingpin's character in a Realty Today article.
He said he went to Escobar's birthplace in Medellin, Colombia to gain deeper understanding of Escobar and to learn the Spanish language. Moura's efforts eventually paid off as he continues to receive good reviews for his performance in "Narcos".
The Brazilian star shared that his most unpleasant experience in doing his character was gaining 40 pounds to play the bigger drug lord. However, for the second season, he admitted that he would rather wear a fat suit.
"Narcos" has been a major hit for Netflix since its release in August 28. It will be a long wait for a lot of people as there will be almost a year wait before Season 2 is released.
