The fitness tracker Microsoft Band 2 has already been announced by the company. The new band is now more refined through its thoughtful software platform and comfortable design that has become better compared to its predecessor.
Tech radar reports that the new Microsoft Band 2 comes with a silver metallic finish on the edges that replaced the plastic of the preceding wearable. This little change certainly boosts its visual appeal, but it is said that it still isn't completely what a user would consider attractive.
This is actually larger than the first Band as well which indicates that it has more screen real estate but it's less unnoticeable. In addition, the latest Microsoft Band is built by thermal plastic elastomer silicone vulcanate. That was described as soft, durable plastic that feels smooth on the skin.
Along with the flat screen, the rigid band was reported gone and Microsoft has opted for a more flexible strap on the band 2. It is stated that several people were complaining about the deteriorating condition of the first Band over time. However, since the side sensor compartments gone, it is said that the previous problem with the first band has already been solved on the second Band.
Microsoft Band 2 sports a VO2 Max sensor intended for identifying the maximum rate, where the user's heart, lungs and muscles can effectively utilize oxygen during exercise. This information can be used in monitoring and comparing the user's levels of fitness over time, the higher the user's VO2 Max, the better the user's fitness level, reports PC Advisor.
According to the company, this is the only wearable device that has the ability of receiving an exact estimation of user's VO2 Max levels on the market. This should be a deal breaker for those who desire to improve their fitness.
While on the focus of health, the Band 2 will monitor the user's Golfing habits. It has the ability of dictating to when to make a shot, and being able to convey the difference among the diverse types of swing, too.
Apart from health-related features, the Band 2 runs Windows 10 and sporting Cortana, the Windows Virtual Assistant. If a user has missed a scheduled workout, Cortana will surely bug the user about going for a run or rescheduling it for a later appointment.
On the other hand, a report from Windows central says that the new Microsoft Band 2 is still not waterproof and only water resistant (e.g. rain, doing the dishes, washing hands). Nevertheless, it is stated that the Band 2 was made far better than the last year's model.
The new Microsoft Band 2 is not cheap since it is available at $249. Still, it is stated that this is just a reasonable price compared to its competitors.
