The toys are up for another round of adventure in the upcoming Toy Story 4. Writer Pete Docter revealed that new elements are to be expected from the film, although, it will be set in the same world and feature the same characters.John Lasseter also said that a love story arc will be explored.
After the emotional scene in the previous film where Andy passed his toys to little Bonnie, many were left wondering how things will turn out for the toys, and according to Australia News Network, director John Lasseter revealed that they will try a new element in the franchise's story by finding a love interest for Woody.
In the new film, Woody will find love in Bo Beep. "It's something we've never done with Toy Story before. It's a love story with Woody and - and this is news - Bo Peep", he said. He also revealed Moreover, it was also revealed recently by writer Pete Docter that the film will center on Woody and Buzz Lightyear's journey to find Bo Beep, who as suggested by a flashback, could have been sold or given away by Andy.
During his talk with ET Online, Docter also hinted on what to expect in Toy Story 4. "It's definitely a lot of the same characters and the [same] world. But as you know from Toy Story 3, there's kind of a new big chapter to Woody's life", he said. "I can't say too much, but it's simultaneously great characters in things you've come to expect, but really a different kind of take on it", Docter added.
The film was pushed back for a 2018 date from its June 16, 2017 previous release schedule to make way for Cars 3, as reported by Movie News Guide. It is expected to feature the return of Tom Hanks as the voice of Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, and Annie Potts as Bo Beep among many others.
Toy Story 4 will be directed by John Lasseter along with co-director Josh Cooley, from screenplay by Rashida Jones and Josh Cooley. Official plot details for the project are currently under wraps, but more details are expected to be revealed when production progress. It is set to hit theaters on June 15, 2018.
