AT&T has just released the final Lollipop update to its Samsung Galaxy S5 units and the Android 6.0 Marshmallow software is now expected bound for testing after its development phase will cap off. According to Samsung's official list of Marshmallow upgrade, the testing will begin next month.
Samsung Galaxy S5 units on AT&T are expected to proceed to the Android 6.0 Marshmallow tests in November. In this stage, certification procedure will be undertaken by the tech giant while the performance of the most polished Android software in history will be evaluated to ensure best quality Marshmallow experience.
If Android 6.0 is deemed successful, the mobile carrier will begin to roll out the official version of the software. Per list released by You Mobile mid in October, Samsung is confirmed to kick off the upgrade to Galaxy S5 smartphones by the first quarter of 2016.
According to previous reports, January will be the date for the official over-the-air release of Marshmallow. However, AT&T will have the full discretion when to officially roll out Marshmallow to its Galaxy S5 units.
Samsung Galaxy S5 units on AT&T have model number SM-G900A. All units have just been updated to Android 5.1.1 Lollipop last October 22.
Meanwhile, Android 6.0 Marshmallow software is considered the most polished Android software in history for its smoother processes, device management solutions and several other minute improvements. It comes with major updates in TouchWiz user interface, security, web experience, apps permissions, app drawer, notification board, battery life and system apps.
Google dev has also included Intelligent Prediction Engine to observe mostly used activities and create a tray of app shortcuts for immediate access to them.
On top of it all, Google Now on Tap is deemed the most notable improvement of Marshmallow. Originally, Google Now only works as a predictive assistant on the device's home screen and scuttle through apps to gather more information with immediacy about anything under the sun.
