T-Mobile is ready to hit Android 6.0 Marshmallow software via testing with its Samsung Galaxy S5 units. An official list of Marshmallow upgrade for Samsung devices revealed that the latest Android software will hit these devices in the first quarter of 2016.
Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphones on T-Mobile are expected to test Android 6.0 Marshmallow beginning November as development stage on the verge of being wrapped up. In the testing stage, Galaxy S5 will go through a certification procedure of the mobile carrier. Afterwards, the device will be subjected to assessment for Marshmallow performance to get the best of the software.
If all these processes are deemed successful, official release will kick off. As per confirmed release date, Galaxy S5 will receive the upgrade in the first quarter of 2016. January has already been pointed out in previous news; however, devices under telecom operators will receive the upgrade according to its decision.
Samsung Galaxy S5 versions under T-Mobile have model number SM-G900T. More than one-half of T-Mobile's units have just received the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop software while the rest still runs on Android 5.0.
Android 6.0 Marshmallow software comes with major improvements in TouchWiz user interface, battery, security, system apps and web experience. Specifically, updates will hit Google Now, app drawer, apps permissions, notification board, and several others.
Meanwhile, fingerprint scanner support is one of the most notable features Marshmallow brings. Fingerprint is originally used to authentication purposes. It operates by point onto the sensor registered fingerprint until confirmed. It now also works in buying apps from the Play Store aside from the original password scheme.
Another prominent support is for the USB Type-C. Marshmallow now supports this all-in-one port. The USB-C is a tiny reversible cord that can be used for both phones and tablets. Aside from its charging capacity, the cord can be used for transferring data and video between devices.
