Get the Unofficial Android 6.0 Marshmallow Update for OnePlus One a Whole Lot Earlier

By

OnePlus One handset users are joining in the clamour of Android phone owners who are wondering when they will be able to get their hands on an Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Although there is no official news about the update coming to the Guangzhou-based company's smartphones, users can get an unofficial mobile OS update sooner.

Ubergizmo reported last week that an unofficial Android 6.0 Marshmallow update designed for the OnePlus One handset was released on a OnePlus forum. The update is derived from the CyanogenMod 12.1 Kernel, which tells users that it is both not officially from Google and CyanogenMod. This has caused some eyebrows to be raised at the thought of the much earlier released firmware update of Android's upcoming operating system.

The custom and unofficial Android M firmware is titled "AOSParadox Project 1.0 ROM." Those who are interested in getting the update will have to be familiar with flashing ROMs with TWRP Recovery.

Though it has been proven to run efficiently, the off-the-radar update does come with some reported bugs. Complaints mentioned by Latino Post include the inability to turn off NFC and random reboots caused by the OS's WiFi firmware. Aside from that, the update runs just like the actual one.

Android Origin gives a run through on how to install the OnePlus One OS update. In order to install the unofficial Android 6.0 Marshmallow update on your OnePlus One, users need to have an unlocked bootloader plus the USB drivers on the computer must be compatible with the device. After which, USB debugging will have to be enabled by going to Settings > Developer Options.

Users must then download TWRP 2.8.6 using the link below and then download the Android 6.0 Marshmallow AOSP ROM into the computer. Connect your OnePlus One device to your computer, then copy the Android 6.0 AOSP ROM, and then boot into Recovery Mode and flash the OnePlus One Android 6.0 Marshmallow update.

Given that this is an unofficial update, it is advised that users take as many scenarios into consideration and approach the decision with caution. Aside from that, it works, and that's all that matters to many Android fanatics.
