The final 'Power Ranger' has been identified, and it's none other but the beautiful pop star, Becky G. After recently announcing the four members that will make up the successful 1990's classic franchise, the director has confirmed that Becky will be fulfilling the role of the 'Yellow Ranger' for the upcoming 'Power Ranger' movie, set to be released in 2017.
According to Realty Today, 18-year-old Becky G will be playing the role of 'Trini' aka the Yellow Ranger in the 'Power Rangers' movie which is set to be released on January 13, 2017. The brunette beauty will work alongside co-stars Naomi Scott, who will play as the Pink Ranger, Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger, Ludi Lin as the Black Ranger, and RJ Cyler as the Blue Ranger, as confirmed by director Dean Israelite.
Science Fiction also reported that the pop star's ranger name will be 'Teyana Jones' who will possess the original power of the Yellow Power Ranger, the 'Sabretooth Tiger,' and possibly 'Power Daggers' which was also originally used by the original Yellow Ranger 'Trini.' According to the report, the announcement came via the movie's Instagram account 'powerrangersmovie' where a photo of Becky G was captioned with, "#BeckyG (@iambeckyg) is going to be bringing the action as the #YellowRanger in the @PowerRangersMovie! Let the countdown to 2017 begin."
In another report from Gospel Herald Entertainment, the 18-year-old star shot to fame after being discovered on YouTube for her good singing skills and rapping. Apparently, her YouTube page caught the attention of the music industry which eventually landed her a gig with Dr. Luke. The singer and actress currently has a recurring role playing Valentina Galindo in the hit series 'Empire'.
Although 2017 is still far off, fans of the movie and Becky G can expect updates as the movie prepares for shooting. Little is still known on the upcoming film; however, it has been announced that all members of the Power Rangers will be having new names, and will not adapt the color of the original dinosaur titles from the original series. For Becky G, the young singer will be busy in the forthcoming months as she prepares for shooting and a hopeful debut album.
