Surface Book: Microsoft's First Laptop; Specs, Features, Performance Review

A lot of tech enthusiasts have been blown away by the Microsoft Surface Book, Microsoft Corporation's first ever laptop. Though this device provides nearly similar features and functionality with Microsoft Surface Pro, the convertible laptop-tablet of the company, it has also its very own distinct specs and performance which users can experience for only $1499.

WinBeta cited the features and specs that the Microsoft Surface Book carries. The device features 13.5" PixelSense display with a resolution of 3000 x 2000 (267 PPI). This handset has an aspect ratio of 3:2 and a 10 point multi-touch. It has a dimension of 12.30" x 9.14" x 0.51 - 0.90" (312.3mm x 232.1mm x 13.0 - 22.8mm) and weight starting at 3.34 pounds (1,516 grams) including keyboard.

The Microsoft Surface Book is engineered with 6th Gen Intel Core i5 or i7 that is working hand-in-hand with either Intel HD graphics 520 or NVIDIA GeForce Graphics Processor. This device is packed with variety of 8GB and 16GB RAM.

As for its camera, it is armed with 5.0MP front-facing camera and 8.0MP rear-facing camera with autofocus, with 1080p HD video recording. Surface Book has a battery life of up to 12 hours of video playback4 and lastly it has a magnesium casing and it is available in Silver color only.

Furthermore, CNET made a review on the Microsoft Surface Book wherein the gadget got an over-all score of 8.2 as an average. The bases of the score were performance, design, features and battery life. The features were the area of the device wherein it garnered 9.0 which was its highest score while the performance, design and battery life areas got 8.0.

Tech Radar further added the positive sides and the negative sides of the device. For its positive side, the Microsoft Surface Book has futuristic design, unrivaled display and seamless tablet separation. Meanwhile, the device's negatives sides were battery life falls well below promises and major updates are still in tow.

Based on the detailed specifications and features of the Microsoft Surface Book, it is more likely that this device has its peak side and down side. Meanwhile, this just a simple guide and it is still up to the possible consumers whether this handset will fit in to their needs and wants.
