The Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is set to enhance Sony Xperia Z5's battery life with a tweaked Stamina Mode and the new Doze Mode feature. The update could come to Xperia devices by the end of 2015.
A new rumor about Android 6.0 Marshmallow suggests that the update will boost the battery life of Sony Xperia Z5 through tweaks in the device's Stamina Mode feature. International Business Times reported that a tipster with Twitter username @Ricciolo1 said that Sony's Xperia Z5 family will get the battery-prolonging update.
According to the tipster, the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, and Xperia Z5 Premium will get Android Marshmallow. The update reportedly adjusted the Stamina Mode features in these devices to further extend their battery lives. However, the tipster did not specify the exact battery improvement percentage that the update will bring.
Sony's Xperia Z5 devices come with a battery-saving feature called Stamina Mode. This feature prolongs device usage by eliminating unnecessary background apps and activities running in the system. When activated, it only allows basic services or apps to run such as the calendar app and the alarm clock.
Stamina Mode on Xperia Z5 allows the device to receive calls and messages but it does not wake up the phone to give notification updates. The feature also does not enable syncing apps when it is turned on.
MNR Daily said that the Android Marshmallow update will also bring the Doze Mode to the Sony Xperia Z5 family. Doze is another power-saving feature exclusive to Android M and it functions just like the Stamina Mode. With two battery-saving features, Android M will likely allow the Sony Xperia Z5 devices to be used for a longer period of time with less need to charge.
The update is expected to come to the Sony Xperia Z5 devices before the end of 2015 or later. Venture Capital Post earlier reported that Android 6.0 Marshmallow will roll out on the following Sony devices: the Xperia Z5, Xperia Z5 Compact, Xperia Z5 Premium, Xperia Z4 Tablet, Xperia Z3+, Xperia Z3, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia Z2, Xperia Z2 Tablet, Xperia M5, Xperia C5 Ultra, Xperia M4 Aqua and Xperia C4.
Sony's line of Xperia devices are known for their long battery life, like the Sony Xperia Z3. With the tweaked Stamina Mode in Android Marshmallow, the Sony Xperia Z5 are expected to provide more excellent battery performance.
