The CyanogenMod 12.1 update is now available for the Yu Yureka and the Yu Yureka Plus phone. It is based on the Android 5.1 Lollipop version that includes a couple of fixes and improvements.
CyanogenMod ROM and updates are particularly anticipated because of their added features and a look that sets it apart from the stock vanilla Android operating system. There are only a number of devices that support the custom ROMs.
Fortunately, Yu Yureka and Yu Yureka Plus users will finally be able to download the update. However, it came five months after the promised launch date.
YU Televentures said that there is already an OTA update available with the YOG4PAS3JM version number, according to the International Business Times. Users can choose to download the update automatically or manually.
Some of the new features include an improved launcher. The App Drawer will also have the one-handed mode for easier access during commutes.
The email app will also be integrated with the calendar. Users will be able to schedule appointments according to the events seen in the mail.
More codecs for video and audio are also included in the CyanogenMod 12.1 update for the Yu Yureka and Yu Yureka Plus. More files can now be played on the device.
The next CM 12.1 update will come to the Yu Yuphoria, according to NDTV. It may take a couple more weeks as the current update is not yet widely spread to all Yu Yureka users.
Rahul Sharma, the company's chief executive officer, said that they needed to "put up something concrete" for their users. They did not want to rush the update and end up with a buggy version.
The CyanogenMod12.1 update also includes thermal control and the LiveDisplay feature, according to GSM Arena. The latter adjusts the phone's screen depending on the environment around the user.
Yu Yureka and Yu Yureka Plus users can check for the CM 12.1 update on their phones. The new features can now be experienced through the OTA update.
