HTC One M8 GPE Android 6.0 Marshmallow Official Update Delayed Until Further Notice

By

HTC One M8 GPE users waited for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update which was promised in October. The company now says that there has been a delay in the development.

The newest Android version was launched last month alongside the new Nexus 5X and the Nexus 6P, which was made by LG and Huawei, respectively. Both phones were the first ones to run Marshmallow out of the box.

Now, users are waiting on their smartphone manufacturers and network carriers to see if they will also get the update. HTC launched the One M9 with the Marshmallow update, according to Android Headlines. This means that the company has already figured out how to integrate their devices with the new update.

HTC promised that the One M8 GPE will receive the update in October. However, the update is still nowhere to be seen.

Mo Versi, the VP of Product Management at HTC, said that there was a "slight delay." Versi also said that they are required to "re-spin" the Marshmallow update for the One M8 GPE, according to TechnoBuffalo.

HTC didn't clear when the update will finally roll out to the One M8 GPE. Versi did say that she is expecting an update within the next few days and that he will keep posting updates.

The HTC One M8 GPE launched last March for $699, according to Phone Arena. The phone runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat out of the box. If the update finally pushes through, users will be able to run the Android 6.0 Marshmallow version.

There are already unofficial Marshmallow ROMS from CyanogenMod. However, most of them are still unstable and only support selected devices.

HTC is stepping up their update development. The smartphone maker has already promised that the new One A9 will immediately get an update two weeks after the official updates are released to the new Nexus line of devices. HTC One M8 GPE users will have to wait for further updates from Versi.
