Sprint units of Samsung Galaxy S5 are now live receiving the Android 5.0.1 Lollipop software update. The smartphone had already been confirmed to get the Android 6.0 Marshmallow software which is due in the first quarter of 2016.
Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update is currently rolling out to Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphones of Sprint. The update comes in with improvements in security, power capacity, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and LTE.
Although the pioneering update of Android Lollipop is not as huge as Android 5.0, Android 5.0.1 will carry a significant update, offering new features and enhancements most especially to counter attack bug issues of problem with security.
Along with Sprint, Verizon Wireless has also released the same update to its Galaxy S5 units. T-Mobile and AT&T are the first mobile carriers in the US to roll out the said update. US Cellular aside tails behind with its units of Galaxy S5 still running on Android 5.0 Lollipop.
Meanwhile, Galaxy S5 had been confirmed early in October through Samsung's official list of its Marshmallow plans published by You Mobile. Per tech site's posting, the biggest upgrade in Android history will come in the first quarter of 2016. Bringing with it are major improvements and exciting new features.
Marshmallow is now bound to be tested for Galaxy S5 as it is currently in development stage.
Android 5.0.1 Lollipop update delivers two major fixes to bugs brought by Android 5.0 and Android KitKat versions 4.4.4 and 4.4.3. According to a report by a tech from the previous year, the first bug will only attack if spurred by a spate of events which will directly affect the phone's lock screen. The other bug causes issues on video playback, affecting playing movies and other motion content.
The update will also remove other critical and smaller bugs which are not enlisted on the change log of Android 5.0.1 Lollipop. The update is said to be the sole fix to remove these bugs.
