The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt The Biggest Winner at 33rd Golden Joystick; 'Blood and Wine' Expansion Gets New Release Window

CD Projekt RED's open world role-playing game The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the biggest winner at the 33rd Golden Joystick Awards taking home wins five gaming awards including the "Ultimate Game of the Year" award. The game's second paid expansion, Blood and Wine, is given a new release window.

The game also won the Best Storytelling, Best Visual Design, and Best Gaming Moment, reports BBC News. The Polish developer CD Projekt RED who developed the game also bagged the Studio of the Year.

The second runner up is Rockstar Games' GTA V garnering four golden joysticks taking home the Best PC game, the Playfire Most Played Award, and the Best Multiplayer Game for its multiplayer mode, GTA Online. Rockstar Games, the developer behind GTA was awarded the Innovation of the Year award for introducing the first-person shooter mode in GTA 5.

Meanwhile, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt's second paid expansion, Blood and Wine, is now scheduled for release on the first half of 2016, that is between January to June next year. The minor change was mentioned in a press conference during the release of Hearts of Stone expansion last month.

Blood and Wine was originally expected to launch in the first quarter of 2016, however, Game Spot reported that a representative from CD Projekt Red told them that the developer will be "communicating more about the exact launch date of Blood and Wine at a later point in time."

Blood and Wine is the second major expansion for the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt with 20 hours of gameplay in the region of Toussaint, taking Geralt into a land untainted by war, a carefree atmosphere of indulgence and knightly rituals hides an ancient, bloody secret. The game's first paid expansion, Hearts of Stone, was released on October 13 with over 10 hours of new content and adventures.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was launched on May 19 for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. The Blood and Wine is the game's next expansion set to release sometime in 2016 following Hearts of Stone.
