'League of Legends' Borrows DOTA 2 Features For Season 6; Mastery Chests and Keys, New Champion Select System Included

By

"League of Legends" developer Riot Games has announced a bunch of new features coming to the game for Season 6. One of the most notable is the chance for every player to earn Mastery Chests and Keys which is very similar to the popular game Defense of the Ancients 2 (DOTA 2). In addition to that, the company will be introducing a new Champion Select System.

According to PCGames N, the "League of Legends" developer Riot Games has outlined their plans for 2016. One is that after each match players will have the opportunity to acquire Mastery Chests and Keys. The keys, just like its function in DOTA 2, will be used to unlock chests where randomized rewards such as champions and skins are found. In most cases, gamers can reportedly unlock this content permanently while others can simply get a seven-day rental.

Reports have it that in "League of Legends" Season 6 Keys and Key Fragments will be awarded randomly after each win. Riot said that a player can get more keys just by playing with friends rather than queuing up solo. It is worth noting that Key Fragments can be combined into Keys, though the quantity need remains unclear.

The Mastery Chests, particularly, are tied to the letter grade that gamers will receive during match's end, as reported by Cinema Blend. This grade, which was introduced in the Champion Mastery update early this year, is believed to measure both player and team performance based on skills, deaths and other metrics. Basically, an individual who earns an A+ will reportedly be luckier in chests than someone who gets a D.

Meanwhile, probably the biggest change that will come to "League of Legends" Season 6 is the new Champion Select System. Kotaku noted that this feature has since been a headache and that Riot Games has kept on promising to bring out a new and improved team builder. Fortunately, the company's recent announcement seems to suggest that they're creating a larger, more systematic overall Champion Select. Here's how Riot reportedly describes it: "With the new champ select, everyone is on the same page before the draft even begins. Each player chooses two positions before queuing up to find a team."

And to spice things even more, as of writing, Riot Games is believed to be making a new client. Although further details weren't revealed, the fact that they're talking about it is enough. In the meantime, players can stay calm knowing that they can now obtain Mastery Chests and Keys as "League of Legends" Season 6 arrives.
