Less than a week before the StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void's release, Blizzard has launched servers for players across players across Australia and New Zealand. The developer is hoping that the new infrastructure will bring a much smoother gameplay experience for players in these regions. .
As reported by MCV Pacific, CEO and co-founder of Blizzard Entertainment's Mike Morhaime said, "In addition to an epic single-player campaign, social and competitive multiplayer has always been a core component of the StarCraft experience".
"Deploying local game servers for StarCraft 2 in ANZ reaffirms our ongoing commitment to the region and should deliver a new standard of gameplay for players there." added Morhaime.
Meanwhile, some features that fans are looking forward to get their hands on with the latest expansion for StarCraft 2 are the Archon Mode and the Co-op Missions. The Archon Mode will allow players 1-vs-1 multiplayer experience in a team setting, where two players share the control over a single base working together to fight other players doing the same.
The tasks that are usually done by one player will now become a shared responsibility, which include building a base, creating and controlling armies, managing resources, and scouting enemies. The Co-op Missions, previously named Allied Commanders mode in its early development phase, will allow gamers to play as one of six commanders and ally with a second gamer to complete game objectives. Below is an overview of Co-op Missions.
"Co-op missions are objective based scenarios where you and a partner will wield overwhelming power to defeat one of several epic events. To overcome these challenges, you're going to need help. And you'll have the best of the StarCraft 2 Universe at your disposal. Before each mission, you'll select one of six commanders, two from each of the three StarCraft races.
Each commander has a distinct playstyle and brings with them specific abilities and traits into the battlefield. The Zerg commanders are all about controlling powerful hero units. The Terrans deploy their machines of war to do their fighting, while the Protoss take advantage of their powerful Spear of Adun and employ various orbital bombardments."
StarCraft 2: Legacy of the Void will launch on November 10 for PC and Mac. The game comes in Standard Edition for $39.99, Digital Deluxe Edition for $59.99, and Retail-exclusive Collector's Edition for $79.99.
