'The Voice' Season 9 Recap: Last knockouts complete teams; New twist brings back eliminated contestants

By

"The Voice" Season 9 Knockout Round is over and the Live Playoffs begin next week for the Top 20 contestants that made it through the Blinds, Battles and Knockouts. However, the Playoffs will actually be a bit more complicated this season since for the first time in The Voice history, each coach will get to bring back an eliminated contestant.

According to Zeibiz, each team will have a Bring Back contestant that was eliminated during the previous rounds that will return to compete for wild-card-style spots in the top 12.

Blake Shelton, Adam Levine, Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams have chosen the last members to complete their respective teams of five members each to bring to the next round in the November 2 episode.

Adam Levine's last battle pair was James Dupre and Shelby Brown, who were both four chair turners reports Franchise Herald. It became a battle of classic country hits when Shelby Brown performed a powerful rendition of Carrie Underwood's "Jesus Take The Wheel" while James Dupre picked Blake Shelton's "Sure Be Cool If You Did." In the end, Adam chose Shelby, who joined Keith Semple, Jordan Smith, Blaine Mitchell and Amy Vachal in his team.

Pharrell Williams chose Mark Hood over Siahnna Im in their battle which came next. In the following battle pair, Gwen Stefani chose between Jeffrey Austin who gave a powerful rendition of Adele's "Turning Tables" and Kota who rendered an equally powerful performance of "Barracuda". Gwen picked Jeffrey who is considered as one of Gwen's favorites this season.

The last pair for Blake Shelton was between Emily Ann Roberts and Nadjah Nicole. Emily Ann earned Blake's nod reports Music Times. Emily Ann thus joins Ivonne Acero, Barrett Baber, Morgan Frazier and Zach Seabaugh in Team Blake. Meanwhile, Evan McKeel won over Tim Atlas in the last battle pairing of Team Pharrell.

The last pair to battle it out is from Team Gwen's Regina Love and Riley Biederer who were both Gwen's Battle Steals but this time Gwen chose Regina to remain in her team with Jeffrey Austin, Braiden Sunshine, Korin Bukowski and Viktor Kiraly.

Riley, however, is not yet going home as Pharrell, who happens to be her original coach, used his Knockout Steal on her. She now joins Mark Hood, Darius Scott, Evan McKeeland Madi Davis in Team Pharrell.

What do you think of the new twist in "The Voice" Season 9? Will it make a difference on which 12 contestants go into the next round? The live playoffs will air on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday on NBC.
