A new addition to the cast of Marvel’s "Agent Carter" season two has been announced. Ken Marino, who currently stars on Netflix’s "Wet Hot American Summer", has landed a recurring role of a mob boss on the "Captain America" spinoff. The comic book series hails from Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely.
As first reported by Variety, Marino will play the character of Joseph Manfredi. His character is described as a volatile mob boss of the Maggia crime syndicate. On the series, he will help Peggy Carter’s (Hayley Atwell) adversaries further their agenda.
“We’ve loved working with Ken ever since he played a gay ex-demon for us on ‘Reaper,’ and we were so happy he was available for this role,” said the show’s executive producers Butters, Fazekas and Chris Dingess.
The showrunners also applauded the actor’s range in doing comedy and drama “with ease”.
Marino’s recurring role on Carter marks a reunion for him and co-showrunners Tara Butter and Michele Fazekas – who worked with him in the past on the CW’s Reaper.
According to Zap2it, Marvel has commented that although the actor is known for doing comedy roles, it’s actually his charm that makes him a perfect fit for the show’s fictional mob storyline.
Agent Carter stars Agent Peggy Carter, the fearless spy who works for the Strategic Scientific Reserve. In season two, Peggy will move from New York to Los Angeles for her most dangerous mission yet. Deadline wrote the synopsis in a report.
ABC’s "Agent Carter" has booked "Wet Hot American" star Ken Marino to guest star on its forthcoming second run playing a mob boss named Joseph Manfredi. Although known for portraying funny roles, Marvel has commented that the actor’s charm made him the perfect choice to play the character.
Season two of "Agent Carter" is slated to bow sometime in 2016.
