Mozilla recently launched the Firefox 42 update. One of the highlights is the Tracking Protection feature that was added in the new version.
The open-sourced browser has received so many updates in the past. However, it doesn't seem to be enough to increase the percentage of users.
Private Browsing is a big feature that is always looked for by users who choose browsers both on desktop and mobile platforms. However, Mozilla found out that there are still some ads that manage to track users even in private browsing mode.
Also, the Tracking Protection feature that was recently added has another benefit. Users under the Private Browsing mode may see fewer ads due to the new feature, according to TechCrunch.
It was initially understood that browsing in private mode meant that the anonymity of the user is safe. However, it turns out that the mode does not completely protect the user. Google Chrome also warns users that it does not defend against snooping websites.
Why is this a big deal? The user's private and personal data can still leak out to websites, according to NeoWin. Even social networks can still track within Private Browsing.
The new Tracking Protection feature works similarly to Privacy Badger and Ghostery. However, the feature is currently exclusive to the Mozilla Firefox's Private Browsing mode.
Private Browsing or Incognito modes are often used for porn browsing, according to Computerworld. The feature is useful because it doesn't save the website history and it was thought to be safe from leaking information.
Other features in the Mozilla Firefox 42 update include the indicator where sound is playing from in the tabs, just like in Chrome. What's different is that users can just click on the speaker icon to mute the sound.
There is also an added Control Center for verifying how secure a site is and how privacy is treated. The Login Manager also had added features.
The Mozilla Firefox 42 update fixes privacy-related issues. Users are urged to download the update immediately to protect them from prying advertisers and analytics.
