Android 6.0 Marshmallow Now Available To Samsung Galaxy Note 3, Google Nexus 7 via Cutom ROM [How To Install]

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 recently received the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop version but the handset is not in the list of eligible Samsung devices to Android M. Similarly, the Google Nexus 7 turnes out to be also unfortunate as Google will no longer continue the software support for the smartphone. With these, developers have made a Custom ROM for the devices, enabling its users to experience the Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

According to International Business Times, a Prolific XDA Developer Forum member named Morningstar has released Android Marshmallow based CyanogenMod CM13 series custom ROM to Galaxy Note 3 LTE model. This makes the device eligible for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. However, users who want to try are reminded that custom ROM is an experimental version, so bugs are expected to come with it.

Furthermore, the Google Nexus 7 was also lucky because of the AOSP (Android Open Source Project) 6.0 Marshmallow. This was compatible with 2012 flagship tablet and it has been made available to the public online. The AOSP was due to the efforts of the industrious XDA Developer Forum's senior member vocoderism.

Neurogadget gave the step-by-step process on how to install the custom ROM for Galaxy Note 3 and Nexus 7.

For the Note 3, users of the handset need to download to their computer the CyanogenMod CM13 Android 6.0 Marshmallow custom ROM for Galaxy Note 3 zip. They also have to download the Google Apps zip files from the XDA Developer Forum.

According to the site, owners of the handsets will need to connect their Galaxy Note 3 to their computer via a USB Cable and copy the zip files to the microSD card that's attached to the mobile device. Then, turn off the Galaxy Note 3 device and disconnect it from your computer. After that, they have to boot the smartphone into Recovery Mode by long pressing the Power and Volume down buttons.

Next, clearing the device's memory. This can be done by selecting the wipe option then finally, get back the main recovery menu and select the "Install zip from SD card" and select the CyanogenMod CM13 Android 6.0 Marshmallow zip file. Once the file is installed on Galaxy Note 3, tap "Install zip from SD card" again and install the Google Apps zip file.

Lastly, users will need to return to the main recovery menu once again and select "reboot" to restart their Galaxy Note 3 so that it can boot into the custom Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS for the first time.

On the other hand, the Android M custom ROM could be installed in the Nexus 7 by downloading the Android 6.0 Marshmallow via AOSP custom ROM zip file. It is also necessary to download Google Apps zip file from the XDA Developer forum. Once done, connect the Google Nexus 7 device to a computer via an USB cable and copy the zip files from the computer to the mobile device.

And here, handlers of Nexus 7 will just need to follow the similar steps that on the installation of custom ROM Android 6.0 to Galaxy Note 3, by wiping the device's memory and install the zip files.

The custom ROM for Samsung Galaxy Note 3 and Google Nexus 7 rea really not advisable for the users as it can bring bugs to their handsets. However, if they really want to try and experience the Android 6.0 Marshmallow, they just have to follow these procedures.
