Motorola was one of the smartphone manufacturers who has promised to bring the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its handsets. The Moto X Pure Edition and the Moto X2 were two of the lucky devices to obtain the newest operating system made by Google.
According to Yibada, the Moto X Pure Edition 2015 is expected to be the first Motorola device to obtain the Android Marshmallow update very soon. This handset was launched earlier this year and currently runs on Android Lollipop 5.0 and is expected to jump directly to Android Marshmallow before the end of this year. Meanwhile, the Moto X2 Pure Edition and Moto X Style are also expected to get this upgrade really soon as the update may be rolled out starting next month.
The Android Marshmallow update was launched on Oct. 9, making Google Nexus 5X and Huawei Nexus 6P to be the first devices to to run on this new operating system made by the biggest search engine company. Motorola is reported to be currently testing the Android Marshmallow update for the Moto X Pure Edition 2015 in the form of soak tests.
Furthermore, Neurogadget stated on its report that Motorola also said that the new Android OS version will be released for Moto X Pure Edition and Moto X2 will remove the following features; Moto Migrate, Google Chrome Assistant and Moto Assist.
The Android 6.0 Marshmallow will be needing at least 500MB of available storage. This newest OS will come with an automatic backup, support for fingerprint scanning, Bluetooth 4.2 and LTE connectivity. Moreover, the emergency calls will be improved on the new Android OS version and the API level 23 will be introduced.
Aside from the Moto X Pure Edtion and Moto X2, IBTimes cited other Motorola devices to obtain the upgrade. The Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen), Moto X Pure Edition (2nd Gen), Moto X Style (3rd Gen), Moto X Play, Moto X (2nd Gen), Moto Maxx (2014), Moto Turbo (2014), Nexus 6 (2014), Moto G (3rd Gen), and Moto G (2 Gen).
With this confirmed information, users of the Moto X Pure Edition, Moto X2 and other aforementioned devices were lucky to be receiving the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Meanwhile, they still have to wait until the upgrade rolls out on their devices as it seems to be a graual process via OTA.
