Sony uploaded a new PlayStation VR video on Youtube which shows the specs of the Project Morpheus VR headset. It finally confirms all the speculations and rumors regarding the anticipated virtual reality product.
The video shows that the PlayStation VR will be sporting a 5.7-in OLED display inside with a pixel resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, according to the International Business Times. It isn't so bad as the viewer would be looking at it up close.
Other PlayStation VR specs shown in the video include the 120Hz refresh rate that is needed for a smooth VR experience. Anything less and the user might get nauseous or have eye strains.
The headset would also have an approximate field of view of 100 degrees. To help the VR headset track the user's head movements, it also has the gyroscope and accelerometer sensors.
The PlayStation VR also has nine LEDs to help with the tracking. 3D audio is also supported, according to GameSpot. Also, USB and HDMI ports can be found on the VR device.
Shuhei Yoshida from Sony told GameSpot: "Tokyo is working hard to get the system software and the SDK done and continually improve it, to make sure that the experience is great for customers and developers. We also want to make sure that when we launch we also have a good selection of games, so it's a bit too early to sort out a price and date."
Unfortunately, the YouTube video did not specify the final price or release date for the VR device. Sony said that it will be launched within the first half of 2016, according to Tech Radar.
The PlayStation VR can be used with Sony's PlayStation Move controllers, which look like microphones with brightly-colored balls on top of them. Together with the VR headset, the player can be immersed into the gaming experience.
Sony is slowly revealing more details for its Sony PlayStation VR. Fans will have to wait for further announcements from the Japanese conglomerate.
