'Finding Dory' is an upcoming adventure-comedy 3D-animated film set to be released on June 2016. It is intended as a sequel to the highly-successful animated film 'Finding Nemo'. Its plot will take place six months after the events of the first film and will feature a new cast of characters.

According to Moviepilot, the sequel to 'Finding Nemo' is set to be released on June 17, 2016. Its events will take place six months after the events of the previous film and will focus on the forgetful fish Dory, played by actress-comedian Ellen DeGeneres. An excerpt from the upcoming animated film's synopsis reads, "Remembering something about "the jewel of Monterey, California," accompanied by Nemo and Marlin, she sets out to find her family."

It was reported by the Independent that the new film's premise will focus on the rehabilitation of sea creatures back into their wild habitat as opposed to keeping them contained in marine attractions to draw in visitors. DeGeneres explained, "I think that fish should be in the ocean... which is what this whole sequel is about: rehabilitation and putting them back in the ocean... And we have to protect our oceans." Her character Dory was first introduced in the 2003 release 'Finding Nemo' as a friendly yet amnesiac Pacific regal blue tang who helped the main protagonist Nemo, a clownfish, find his way back to his family.

The new cast of characters joining DeGeneres in 'Finding Dory' were first revealed at the annual Disney D23 Expo in Anaheim, California. According to Time Magazine, Golden Globe nominee Ed O'Neill of 'Married... With Children' fame will be joining the cast as Hank, an ill-tempered Octopus. In addition, Ty Burrell of 'Modern Family' will play Bailey the beluga whale while Kaitlyn Olson of 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' will play Destiny the whale shark.

Dory's new friends will help her set out on a new adventure to be reunited with her forgotten family after she is separated from Marlin and Nemo. Director Andrew Stanton said in a previous interview that he felt Dory's character needed more development. He said, "I wanted to know that if this charming, forgetful fish ever got lost again, that she would be OK."

'Finding Dory' is an upcoming follow-up film to 2003's 'Finding Nemo'. It is scheduled to be released on June 17, 2016 and helmed by directors Stanton and Angus McLane. It is produced an adventure-comedy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures.
