The former hitman is set to strike again for another round of thrill and action in John Wick 2. The list of new and cast members were revealed as well as returning cast members. Reeves also previously hinted on what to expect in the sequel.
Keanu Reeves is set to return to the titular character for the sequel of his widely received 2014 action flick. Moreover as reported by Deadline, he will be joined by Orange is the New Black tv series' Ruby Rose, Burnt's Riccardo Scamarcio, and Fargo's Peter Stormare.
While the newcomers' characters have not been unveiled yet, according to Screen Rant, it was presumed that Rose will play as the crime lord who Common works for. Meanwhile, returning cast members include John Leguizamo as Aurelio, Bridget Moynahan as Helen, Thomas Sadoski as Jimmy, and Lance Riddick as Charon.
Filming for John Wick 2 is currently ongoing in New York, although, the cast and crew are bound to fly to Rome next year. Official plot details are also scarce for the sequel and speculations can be difficult especially since most of the characters ended up dead in the previous film.
However, during his talk with Collider, Reeves explained that his character, John Wick, is comprised of two identities, John and John Wick and in the sequel it will be John Wick who will fight for John. "I think we have a really good premise, and it's an organic premise. It's basically - to me there's John Wick and then there's John. You know, John is the married guy whose wife just died, and that five years of his life. Then there's John Wick, who's the mythical assassin. In this, John Wick's past comes and infiltrates John's life and John Wick, in a way, has to fight for John." Reeves said.
Reeves further added that they have planned carefully for the film. He revealed that the film's director and writers paid attention on what people wanted in the first film, and that world is set to be revealed in the sequel.
Chad Stahelski is directing John Wick 2 from screenplay written by Derek Kolstad. It is set to be produced by Basil Iwanyk, along with David Leitch, and Stahelski. The film is currently slated to hit theaters in 2016.
