A-list actor, Tom Cruise, is definitely going to return for another adventure as Ethan Hunt in Mission Impossible 6. But before that, he is set to complete a different mission on the moon with director Doug Liman for Luna Park.
Paramount is currently developing the next installment in the action thriller franchise with Cruise. However, as reported by Cinema Blend, after filming concludes in Jack Reacher 2, Cruise will not immediately hop on for Mission Impossible 6. This is because he is expected to proceed filming with Doug Liman for the sci-fi flick, Luna Park, which will center on renegades going on a mission to the moon to retrieve a precious energy source.
Moreover, No director has been tapped for the upcoming Mission Impossible instalment as well, although, as cited in previous report, it is possible that Rogue Nation director Christopher McQuarrie might not return due the existing trend in the franchise where a different director is hired for each film. However, it is also possible that McQuarrie would return for Mission Impossible 6 in a different creative position.
According to /Film, the confirmation for the next MI movie was released by Cruise and supported by Paramount vice president Rob Moore. "We're very happy to be developing this movie with Tom", Moore said.
"There's no question that Ethan Hunt deserves another film.... The international brand is as strong as ever", he added. Cruise previously said that filming for the next Mission Impossible could happen next summer, however, it could still be susceptible to changes.
Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation was a worldwide success as it earned $600 million in the box office according to Box Office Mojo. Aside from Cruise, no other actors have been officially attached to the flick yet and official plot details for Mission Impossible 6 is still under wraps.
