Yet another failed celebrity marriage. Iron Chef, Cat Cora is ending things with her wife, Jennifer Cora.
It's only been two years since the celebrity chef got hitched with her longtime partner, but it seems that married life destroyed their romance.
Reportedly, Cat disclosed her statement in this matter to People. She shared how she thinks of love and of the decision to cut her marital ties with Jennifer.
"It is with great sadness, that after 17 years, a tremendous amount of work, careful consideration and heavy hearts, my wife and I have mutually decided to no longer remain married. In love, there is a season, a reason and a lifetime."
But while Cat hints to a peaceful divorce, it looks like she's up in a custody battle with her ex-wife. The women are parents to four boys named Zoran, Caje, Nash and Thatcher.
The duo shared a rather intimate pregnancy, carrying each other's embryos via in vitro fertilization. It's both wonderful and a bit confusing to think 8-year-old Caje is Cat's biological child yet Jennifer gave birth to him and 6-year old Nash is Jennifer's biological son but Cat gave birth to him. And while these boys share two mothers, they all came from one sperm donor.
Yet for all the efforts that Cat and Jennifer did, including legalizing the adoption of their own kids because of the state requirements in same sex marriage, it's disappointing to know that they're clashing with regards to custodies.
TMZ who first reported the divorce, claimed that the Iron Chef opted for joint custody but Jennifer wants full custody. Moreover, the latter asks for spousal support from Cat, who's the breadwinner of the family.
"Although this is not what we ever imagined, we will always have four incredible reasons to celebrate our years together: our sons. We are forever parents to our boys and are jointly committed to raising them in a peaceful, nurturing and healthy environment." Cat said, clearly showing her desire for joint custody.
Cat continues her successful kitchen career; appearing recently as a judge on Food Network's Cutthroat Kitchen, running her four restaurants and writing her memoir entitled, Cooking as Fast as I Can.
