Zooey Deschanel recently proved that even Hollywood stars would do anything for love. The actress recently converted to Judaism for her husband, Jacob Pechenik.
The "New Girl" actress has always declined any affirmation to her faith in the past. According to US Magazine, she claims that she doesn't want to attach herself to any religion. Her mother is a Roman Catholic while her father is Quaker. She was however raised to be who she wants to be, never really choosing a side based on religion. The 35-year-old mother converted to Judaism before marrying the father of her child, producer Jacob Pechenik. She decided to do so out of love and her life has reportedly been great.
Even though the process could take months, Zooey risked it all for love. The couple kept their marriage in June a secret, according to New York Daily News. Two months after, the actress gave birth to their first child, a baby girl. Since the actress never identified herself with any religion, her conversion to Judaism came as a surprise. She has always been open about being interested in theology but she doesn't attach herself to any specific religion, until recently.
Jerusalem Post reports that as for Zooey's conversion to Judaism, the denomination of rabbi who supervised her conversion was not stated. However, Zooey is not the first star who has converted religion for love. One who tops the lists of other artists who converted is Kate Holmes who married Scientologist, Tom Cruise. Although she did not officially convert to Scientology from being a Roman Catholic, she practiced their beliefs since 2005, a few months after she started dating the actor. During their divorce in 2012, the actress then registered as a parishioner in a New York Catholic church.
Zooey Deschanel's conversion has been a big deal for her fans, especially knowing that she spent her life not recognizing any religion. The actress did it all for her love for her husband and daughter.
