Bill Cosby Sued Again for Defamation when His Legal Team Denied a Woman's Accusations of Sexual Assault

By

Bill Cosby has been one of the most controversial men in the recent months, as multiple women have defamation cases against him. Just recently, a new one came up of an incident that happened nearly 50 years ago.

Last year, 72-year-old former secretary, Kristina Ruehli, accused Bill Cosby of sexual assault. Now, Ruehli and her legal team filed a case last Monday in Massachusetts, claiming that Cosby and his legal team defamed her. According to Vulture, she was labelled by Cosby as a liar after she publicly accused him. In her statement, the sexual assault happened 50 years ago inside Cosby's house. The suit claims that it is already one thing for an accused sexual assailant to remain silent on a case filed against him. It is rather another thing to deny the attack that was evidently done multiple times with multiple victims.

Ruehli is among a handful of other women who accused Cosby and his lawyer of defamation. Cosby's team claims she was lying when she said in a statement last year that he was raped by the accuser back in 1965. Yahoo News reports that just like Ruehli, three other women came forward and said that Cosby drugged them before having unwanted sexual contact with them. Cosby has denied all the women's accusations and has not been criminally charged yet, as the statute of limitations has already expired in most cases.

Ruehli claims that she met Cosby while she was working as a secretary at a Los Angeles talent agency when she was 22 years old. She says that Cosby invited her and others to a party at his home. According to ABC News, Ruehli only took two drinks in his house that night before she passed out. She then woke up naked next to Cosby and she said he forced her to have oral sex with him. Ruehli told her story to Philadelphia Magazine in November 2014 and Cosby's lawyer responded to her accusations by issuing a false and defamatory statement.

Many women have claimed to have been assaulted by Cosby, but he could not be charged due to the expiration of its statute of limitations. However, these women still hope for justice on their cases.
