OnePlus One users have not yet received any news as to whether their handsets will be receiving the latest firmware, Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Good news, however, is that a custom ROM of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow firmware has been released for the handset.
The custom ROM was built by OmniROM XDA developers and is unofficial, so users will have to expect some bugs and flaws in the custom-built experience of Android 6.0 Marshmallow, says Tech Times.
OnePlus is getting busier and busier as the company tries to get the OnePlus 2 in the hands of the millions who ordered the recently released handset model. According to Android Community, the biggest challenge for OnePlus now is making sure that no mistakes are committed, the way they did with the recent launch of the OnePlus X.
With all this happening, OnePlus cannot get its sights focused on bringing a firmware update for their OnePlus One owners. In comes OmniROM to help out OnePlus in that area. The OmniROM's team of developers is one of the latest groups, making custom ROMS for Android owners.
The download is available on the XDA forum of the developers. However, users must remember that installing a custom ROM will make any warranty null and void because it needs a custom recovery.
The OnePlus One was released back in 2014, and is still considered to be the best Android Phones manufactured by OEMs. The device packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and a 13 megapixel camera at the rear. The front end camera has a 5 megapixel resolution reserved for selfie takers.
The surface is covered by a Gorilla Glass 3 casing and has a 5.5 inch touchscreenn display. The OnePlus One has 3GB worth of RAM to run it and 16GB of internal storage with the option for users to extend it with a microSD card.
