An action packed set and battered Tom Cruise gives fans a quite promising sequel to the 2012 action thriller "Jack Reacher". New cast members have been announced and the sequel will be based on Lee Child's "Never go Back" which is the 18th book in the "Jack Reacher" series.
According to Daily Mail, the 53-year-old star was seen all bruised up, cut and battered in a scene under an overpass. Tom looked fit for any action movie, sporting a leather jacket and body fit black t-shirt. It seems the team behind "Jack Reacher" is trying to stay true to the character as a previous review from the New York times described the fictional hero as having an "extreme mesomorph physique"
In fact, even outside filming, the set is apparently action-packed. Movie News Guide reports that a trailer exploded while the cast and crew were filming in Louisiana. It was apparently a wardrobe trailer and the cause of the fire is still unknown. Fans should not be worried though as Tom was not hurt.
Meanwhile, it's noted that Jack Reacher was introduced as a tough ex-military police that can typically beat down anyone, from a bunch of goons to a mob army. It seems fans will see more action in the second installment especially with "The Last Samurai" director Edward Zwick on board.
However, avid readers of the book though are expecting plots details like Reacher getting himself incarcerated when he goes back to his old office; a paternity suit waiting in California while Reacher meets a child who acts, thinks and speaks like him; being ordered back into the army after finding out this is indeed his duty being a reservist; and a cross country action packed journey to West Virginia. If the movie is going to be faithful to the story of the book, then both book and movie fans are in for a thrill ride.
In related news, Madalyn Horcher is joining the cast of the upcoming action movie. According to Variety, Horcher's role is still unannounced but rumor has it she will be playing the Hunter. Nothing much has been revealed about the role at this point.
"Jack Reacher: Never Go Back" is scheduled to be released on October 21, 2016.
