Music streaming junkies rejoice as Apple Music finally decides to make available its music services to Android. The popular iPad and iPhone app Apple Music launches on Android giving Google OS users an earful of tunes via Apple iTunes. However, Apple's newly added app requires Android 4.3 Jelly Bean and higher versions.
Stuart Dredge of The Guardian disclosed this information quoting Apple's services boss Eddy Cue saying, "We wanted it to be for everyone." Cue further stated that Apple made the new app according to Android's design principles. "It's a full native app, so it will feel like an Android app. The menus will look like Android. It'll definitely feel very much like an Android app", he added.
Dredge also mentioned instances behind Apple's decision to create their Apple Music for Android. One of these reasons, according to him, is Apple's intent on luring Android users to iOS devices next time if they make an upgrade to their smartphone or tablet.
Another that surfaced was the Apple Music services family price plan at $14.99 which, according to Dredge, will be appealing to family members using Android devices.
And lastly, the most convincing reason is the realization that Apple cannot ignore this popular platform that has more than one billion active users. Dredge cited Spotify and Pandora has more than 100 million downloads while Google Play Music app has passed 1 billion downloads for Android, respectively.
In other related news, Martyn Casserly of PC Advisor confirmed Apple is setting to take on Spotify, Deezer, Google Music, and other various music streaming services.
In a report shared by Casserly, he stated that Apple wanted to take advantage of the evolving music streaming services. And this prompted them to take on the challenge of providing their Apple Music app to their rival, Android.
Aside from these, Casserly also discloses how easy it is to unsubscribe to Apple Music to discourage automatic renewal after the three-month trial period. He likewise describes how to install Apple Music app beta on Android and went on to enumerate different music streaming functions Android users will enjoy playing around with.
And finally for Apple Music on Android, PC Mag through Stephanie Mlot mentioned the requirement Apple Music beta app needs to run on Android devices.
Mlot wrote that the Android version should be 4.3 Jelly Bean or higher in order for the Apple-based music streaming app to work properly.
In addition to this, Mlot disclosed that family membership subscriptions still require a Mac or an iOS device. However, users who already have acquired their subscription service from elsewhere can log in with an authorized Apple ID, Mlot later added.
Apple Music entry into the Android arena is a surprise move that many speculate as a marketing ploy to to convince Android users to migrate to iOS devices.
Moreover, Apple Music challenging big music streaming services like Google Music and Spotify in their own turf is highly suggestive that Apple eyes to gain prominence in this area, too.
Android has a huge base of apps that many enjoy using and if Apple Music wants to become one of them, then they have to be prepared to satisfy Android's demands to the letter.
Convincing many Android users to jump ship and board iOS is quite achievable; however, Apple Music must make sure the music streaming app for Android includes all the bells and whistles their iOS-based devices normally have.
