Android 6.0 Marshmallow OTA Update To Lenovo A7000, A7000 Plus, Viber P1, S1, K3 Expected Next Year

The Android 6.0 Marshmallow that has been first seen on Nexus devices is now rolling out on other smartphone manufacturers like Lenovo. The Chinese tech company will first release the operating system update to A7000, A7000 Plus, Viber P1, S1 and K3 units next year.

According to Neurogadget, Lenovo has finally exposed on its support page the list of handsets that are eligible for the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update. Based on the list, the A7000, A7000 Plus, Viber P1, Viber S1 and K3 Note will reportedly be the first Lenovo smartphones that will receive the Android Marshmallow upgrade.

International Busines Times stated on its report that the Lenovo's Android Upgrade Matrix support page specified that the newly released Lenovo Vibe P1 and Vibe S1 were listed to receive the Android 6.0 update by June in 2016 while the pioneer models such as Lenovo K3 Note, A7000 Plus and A7000 would receive the newly released OS September next year.

However, the listing of the above mentioned devices was allegedly removed from Lenovo's support page. Though the exact reason behind it was not specified, it is predicted that Lenovo did such so it can revise the delayed arrival of Android M to the said units.

Meanwhile, International Business Time notes that Google generally launches a new Android version at its June I/O developer conference, so the upcoming Android N will most likely be released during Android Marshmallow's arrival to Lenovo smartphones. But there are talks spreading that the upcoming OS could be rescheduled to an earlier date as the "Release Date" column in the matrix "is subject to change".

Lenovo hasn't stated anything yet, but the Android Marshmallow update is expected to be available as an over-the-air (OTA) update. This upgrade is expected to bring features like Google Now on Tap and Doze mode in addition to a new version of Vibe UI.

Ascend P8 Max, Mate S, Media Pad X2, Ascend G7, Mate 7 and Ascend P8 are also said to receive the Android 6.0 Marshmallow, but it is not known yet when that will happen.

Since the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is not yet confirmed by Lenovo, users of Lenovo A7000, A7000 Plus, Viber P1, S1 and K3 still have to wait until the company gives its specifics.
