Panasonic has proudly announced its first fully rugged detachable laptop, the Toughbook 20, just recently. It is expected to bring enhanced performance, durability, functionality, reliability, as well as flexibility for all field employees who work in challenging environments. It will also be available on February 2016.

The Panasonic Toughbook 20 is a 2-in-1 hybrid laptop that is produced for extreme conditions, such as construction, utilities, and field services. It sports six usage modes - conventional laptop, detached tablet, vehicle mode while the device is on the move, tablet flipped 180 degrees while attached for presentations, and convertible mode with keyboard attached built-in carry mode or hanging on a wall.

Jan Ruderman, Panasonic's Vice President for Business Mobility Group, stated in a press release that the company has created an innovative device that "delivers all the advantages of a fully functioning laptop and tablet." The Toughbook 20 can withstand electromagnetic interference, shocks, rain, vibrations, drops, sand, and extreme temperatures. It is also dustproof and waterproof.

Under the hood, this new rugged laptop is powered by the sixth-generation Intel Core vProTM processor with 8GB of RAM, 128GB SSD, and the user's choice of Windows 7 Professional or Windows 10. It includes 10.1-inch WUXGA 1920 by 1200 sunlight-viewable display, waterproof stylus pen, as well as backlit keyboard.

Camera wise, Toughbook 20 boasts a standard 2-megapixel webcam and an optional 8-megapixel primary shooter for field workers. In addition, it has magnesium alloy case, 1D/2D capable barcode reader, SSD heater, magstripe reader, built-in handle, true serial port, and a fanless design. In terms of retail pricing, it is expected to cost at around $3099, which includes a three-year limited warranty.

On the whole, Panasonic has invented a yet another powerful innovation. Following the company's previous devices, the Toughbook 20 is absolutely keeping its pace. It is truly tough and highly durable. Thus, all Panasonic users and spectators can get a hold of it in February of next year.
