'Avengers: Infinity War' will signal the end of the familiar superhero line-up and make way for newer characters as revealed by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. Tom Hiddleston's Loki may return to fight alongside the Avengers in hopes of defeating Thanos in a surprising plot twist.
According to i09.com, Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige hinted that the 'Infinity Wars' will mark the end of the superhero team-up that audiences always knew. He said, "It definitely is an end to some version of the team that we've come to know in The Avengers. Who knows exactly what's gonna happen yet in that film but I think this version of that team, and I think we hint to it at the end of Age of Ultron, that the team will be evolving." He added that new members will be introduced after suggesting that some familiar heroes will be killed off eventually.
The 'Avengers' sequel is presumed to follow different events from the comic books, according to Press Examiner. However, Thanos remains as the main supervillain and will engage in an epic battle with the superhero team. Several characters from the current line-up will be destroyed thus prompting newer replacements.
Meanwhile, Thor's villainous step-brother Loki is speculated to show up in the upcoming back-to-back films not as an antagonist, but as a comrade fighting alongside the Avengers to defeat Thanos. According to Overmental, it is not to say that he will drop his evil ways but it may be that he will join forces with the superheroes for his own selfish reasons. It was suggested that Loki may turn vengeful after the destruction of Asgard perhaps in the events following 'Thor: Ragnarok'.
'Avengers: Infinity War' is two-part addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Three. Part one is scheduled to be released in theaters on May 4, 2018 and part two is scheduled for May 3, 2019.
The planned sequels will be directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. It is said that the films' main premise will feature Thanos as the ultimate antagonist. Several original cast members are reprising their roles for the upcoming films including Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Tom Hiddleston as Loki and Josh Brolin as Thanos.
