No evil ghost is safe in the new Ghostbusters Reboot. Although a first look at the cast was released previously, official plot details have not been revealed yet. However, a logline for the film has been revealed recently.
After two decades new ghostbusters are set to kickass in the big screen once again as Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones are set to star in the film. In a report by Cinemablend, a first look at the characters were also previously revealed showing the actresses in their Ghostbusters costume which was largely inspired by the original actors' outfit.
Filming for the project is currently underway, but as reported by Geeky Tyrant, plot details are currently undisclosed. However, a new logline has surfaced teasing what could be the background of the four female leads.
"With paranormal activity on the rise, a Columbia University academic, her ghost-chasing friend, the friend's business partner, and an MTA employee join forces to bust ghosts and save New York.", it stated.
Before the Reboot, Den of Geek reported that a Ghostbusters 3 was initially planned, and aimed to bring back all the previous male characters. However, the script and Bill Murray's low interest in the project caused for its delay.
After the all female Ghostbusters Reboot, the trade added that an all-male characters are set to star in a different reboot as well. Although it remains to be seen whether a Ghostbusters 3 will be released in the future, these new films in the franchise will set up what will be the new Ghostbusters universe.
Aside from its female leads, the upcoming Ghostbusters Reboot will also feature cameo appearances of previous cast members such as Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, and Sigourney Weaver. Chris Hemsworth is also a notable addition to the cast as the Ghostbusters receptionist, Kevin. The film is directed by Paul Feig and is set to hit theaters on July 15, 2016.
