Ridley Scott's Prometheus 2, officially called Alien: Paradise Lost, is in the works, and recently hired writer John Logan to revise the script. Meanwhile, Actress Rebecca Ferguson is also speculated to be on the running for a major role in the project.
Before principal photography begins for the project, the script will undergo polishing as JoBlo reported that writer John Logan was tasked to revise its screenplay which was initially written by Jack Paglen and re-written by Michael Green. According to the trade, Logan and Scott worked alongside each other before for Gladiator which could subsequently entail that having Logan on board is a good thing for the sequel.
Meanwhile, with her performance in Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, Rebecca Ferguson has been a glowing name courted by different directors for different projects, and as reported by Deadline, the upcoming Prometheus film is among those who wants her on board.
Although her role was not specified, she is reportedly being considered for "a peach of a major female role". Some speculate that she could be one of the new travellers that Scott previously mentioned about, who will join Dr. Shaw and David in the first act.
As reported by IGN, Scott hinted that the next film after Prometheus 2 will eventually answer the controversial questions originally asked in the first Alien film in 1979. "Prometheus 2 will start getting shot in February and I've already begun now so I know what the script is. Then there will be another one after that and then maybe we'll back into Alien 1, as to why? Who would make such a dreadful thing?", Scott said.
Ridley Scott will direct Alien: Paradise Lost which will begin filming in March 2016. Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender are expected to reprise their roles as Dr. Shaw and David respectively. The film is expected to hit theaters on May 30, 2017.
