The Samsung Galaxy A9 could launch soon, complete with a rotating camera and a possible $500 price tag. It reportedly has inferior specifications compared to Google's LG Nexus 5X.
Samsung will update its Galaxy A series soon with the new mid-range phone Galaxy A9. The A9 is the successor to the Galaxy A8 and is believed to be the device with model number SM-A9000.
International Business Times reported that a device with the same code was certified by Bluetooth SIG. It was also spotted in the Zauba website that monitors Indian exports and imports. This could mean that the Samsung Galaxy A9 is nearing its launch date.
Reports say that the Galaxy A9 could be priced at around $500. Information gathered from Zauba indicated that six devices with SM-A9000 model number carried a price tag of Rs 23,402; though the devices were reportedly not meant to be sold.
Crossmap said that one of the primary selling points of the Samsung Galaxy A9 would be its rotating camera. Leaked photos from Chinese site mobile-dad revealed that the Galaxy A9 would offer this feature. The Galaxy A9 will be the second phone to come equipped with a rotating phone, next to the Oppo N1.
The Samsung Galaxy A9 is believed to have a slightly smaller screen than its predecessor. It is expected to come with a 5.7" display with 1080 x 1920 pixel resolution. Rumors say that the Galaxy A9 will run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop at launch and can later be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
Specs wise, the Samsung Galaxy A9 is said to be inferior to the LG Nexus 5X according to a report by Neurogadget. Under the hood, it is powered by a weaker Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 processor compared to the LG Nexus 5X's Snapdragon 808 brain.
However, the Galaxy A9 has an edge over the LG Nexus 5X in terms of graphics. It sports the latest Adreno 510 which makes it capable to support graphics-intensive games, compared to the LG Nexus 5X's Adreno 418. The Galaxy A9 also has 32GB up to 128GB expandable memory while the LG Nexus 5X only offers 16GB and 32GB variants.
Reports say that Samsung will release the Galaxy A9 before the year ends. But some say that it could come next year since Samsung just launched the Galaxy A8 in July.
