Samsung released the Galaxy View rumored to be a replacement for home desktops. The Samsung Galaxy View tablet is bigger than the iPad Pro and considered as the largest Android device in the market.
Korean-based manufacturer Samsung has just launched the Galaxy View tablet. Measuring 451.8 x 275.8 x 11.9 mm and weighing 2.65 kg, it is one of the biggest tablets ever made as per Pocket-Lint's report. Samsung considers the Galaxy View as a "new dimension in mobile entertainment experience." However, its huge size also means that the Samsung Galaxy View is not as portable as other average-sized tablets.
The Samsung Galaxy View is positioned as a device perfect for media content consumption. With its large display screen, it aims to offer an immersive video watching experience to users. The View can be best used at home to watch movies with family and friends.
CNET reported that the View can be a possible replacement for the PC at home since it comes with Google Docs and a wireless keyboard. Other specifications of the Galaxy View are stereo speakers, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and 4G LTE connection support, and a 2.1 MP camera at the front.
Samsung reportedly did not give the View premium specs since it is geared towards the home and family. Its full HD display has a 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution which is lower than the Tab S2. It also houses a 5700mAh battery capable of lasting up to 8 hours of video streaming, and an octa-core 1.6 GHz Samsung Exynos 7580 processor. The View is built with a two -way kickstand and 16GB or 32GB expandable storage.
Compared with the Apple iPad Pro, the Samsung Galaxy View is bigger and is better used for entertainment purposes rather than for work, as per NBC News. However, the iPad Pro offers a higher resolution than the View with its 12.9" retina display. It also has an A9X processor that is more powerful than the Galaxy View.
The Samsung Galaxy View is expected to sell at a starting price of $599. There is no official word yet on the release date of the Galaxy View tablet.
