‘Battlefield 4’ Updates: New Map and Aerial & Terrestrial Battle Features in DLC

By

DICE's first person shooter game, Battlefield 4, still continues to give away DLCs after being released two years ago. Since its 2013 release, the game has already given away eight DLC packs, five of which was given to premium game members. In its latest DLC, it is reported that a new map will be featured, alongside an updated mode in the aerial and terrestrial battles.

The latest DLC, named Legacy Operations, features an expansive map called the Dragon Valley. The 2015 version of the map received many changes to look like and for players to feel like in a real life Chinese river valley. Furthermore, they have added a dynamic cloud layer above the valley wherein a thick cloud layer separates the aerial firefight above and the terrestrial fire exchange below, Christian Post reported.

Being the main attraction of the new DLC, Dragon Valley was first featured in the Battlefield 2 map. However, this 2015 version is the revamped variant of its previous counterpart. According to DICE, "Battlefield 2 featured a poor draw distance by today's standards, and the original map was built around those limitations." For solutions, they increased the map's verticality and separated aerial battles from the terrestrial ones. Tech Times reports that developer DICE shall keep the destructible and repairable bridges for tactical choices, maintaining the features of the old map while embracing the updates.

With the new DLC, the game conquest will now come with more flags than any other maps. According to True Achievements, DICE wants to "mimic the layout of old" and offer the same style of gameplay. Furthermore the Rush game mode is now available which features a unique style of attack and defense.

While Electronic Arts has not yet specified the DLC's release date, the expansion is planned to be released alongside the Holiday Updates. The DLC pack is made exclusive for Xbox One, but DICE promise to continue its support Xbox 360 with critical updates.
