Despite strong viewership and good reviews, Wayward Pines Season 2 will not be possible. Currently, there are still no confirmations on the second season of the series from the creator Chad Hodge and executive producer M. Night Shyamalan. In hypothethical Season 2, Adam Hassler is said to lead a search and rescue for survivors.
In contrary to the renewal news earlier this year regarding mystery science fiction television series Wayward Pines, Season 2 will not be possible yet, as for the moment. In the report from Christian Post, despite the positive reviews and critics, Chris Hodge already confirmed the small chance the show will be renewed for second season.
According to Vine Report, the renewal of Wayward Pines Season 2 is slim is due to the fact that the series was created as a ten episode miniseries. Originally, the show was intended to cover the trilogy novel written by Blake Crouch of the same title and put them together in ten episodes.
The creative team was able to achieve what they aimed in the first place, and the season finale was able to justify the entire novel, Ecunemical News noted. Though the network Fox Entertainment is still open for another installment of the series because of its good and stable ratings, Season 2 of Wayward Pines will only possible if author Crouch will write a continuation to the trilogy. From there, the team could continue the storyline of Wayward Pines.
Wayward Pines has average of 1.2 over 5 share in 18-49 demographics and 3.9 million viewers while season finale had a 1.92 ratings. The show was also considered as summer's top-rated scripted program of the year.
If Wayward Pines will be renewed, the Season Two will highlight Tim Griffin's Adam Hassler character. Adam was to lead a mission for a search and rescue for survivors upon Ethan's discovery that they landed in the year 4028, as ended in the finale of Season One.
