The dinosaurs will be back, but this time, they will not be limited to parks in Jurassic World 2. Bryce Dallas Howard recently confirmed the project's filming date while several plot speculations have surfaced.
Filming will not start anytime soon as actress Bryce Dallas Howard confirmed that filming will begin sometime in 2017. "I'm for sure in the sequel, which is awesome... It's really cool and [Jurassic World 2 is] happening relatively soon; I mean we're going to be shooting it in 2017, it's going to come out June 22nd 2018.", Dallas said as reported by Movie Pilot.
Howard is set to reprise her role as Claire Dearing along with Chris Pratt who is expected to reprise his role as Owen Grady. However, unlike the first movie, the gigantic dinosaurs will no longer be isolated within the walls of a park.
Jurassic World 2 will be inspired by the deleted scene B.D. Wong's Dr. Henry Wu hinted the future of the dinosaurs to InGen's Simon Masrani played by Irrfan Khan. "We're not always going to be the only ones who can make a dinosaur.", Dr. Wu said.
As reported by Screen Crush, Director Collin Trevorrow also teased about the plot during his previous interview saying the dinosaurs will soon be used for more than entertainment. "I feel like the idea that this isn't always going to be limited to theme parks and there are applications for this science that reach far beyond entertainment. And when you look back at nuclear power and how that started, the first instinct was to weaponise it and later on we found it could be used for energy", he said.
Following Trevorrow's statement, several plot details have been surfaced online. As reported by Realty Today, claims have surfaced that among the gigantic creatures, the velociraptors could be used as weapons in the next film.
No director has been attached for Jurassic World 2 but more details are expected to be revealed when production makes progress. It is set to be produced by Patrick Crowley and Frank Marshall with Trevorrow, Steven Spielberg, and Thomas Tull as executive producers slated to hit theaters in 2018.
