Samsung Marshmallow Roadmap Leaked: Galaxy S6, Note 5 Getting Update Soon

By

Samsung is working around the clock to get the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to its flagships as soon as possible. Recent reports indicate some promising details on when the firmware installation will be happening for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6.

Slash Gear delivers great news for Note 5 owners, as the update is expected to arrive to its owners anytime in December. The Galaxy S6 Edge+ is to receive the update a month later, putting it alongside the standard Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge models.

The Marshmallow firmware update has also been given a go signal for the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge handsets, and will be arriving by February of 2016. Then in March, The Samsung A8 is next in line to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow. In April, owners of the Galaxy S5 will be looking at receiving their Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, says International Business Times Australia.

However, there is bad news for Samsung Galaxy S3 and S4 owners, as VR Zone reports that Android 5.1.1 Lollipop will be as far as the handsets will go officially. The Note 3 has also been disapproved for further update, and will not be getting the Marshmallow update either.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7" and 8" tablets are yet to receive approval and remain on the 'pending list', the same goes for Galaxy Tab S 8.4", Galaxy Tab A 9.7" and Tab A 8". The only Samsung tablet that seems to have received an arrival date is the the Galaxy Tab S 10.5", which is slated to come in April 2016.

Android-based OEMs are racing to get the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow update on the air, as only a handful of smartphones have received the latest firmware. The Marshmallow comes with some exciting features, such as the Doze mode, which is a smart standby system that is seen to improve battery life significantly, the Google-mandated faster fingerprint sensors and improvements to user interface and experience.
