Earlier this month, Microsoft has launched its Windows 10 version 1511 alongside the updated installer files through a free, downloadable media creation tool (MCT). However, the Redmond-based company has stopped offering the upgrade as a disk image.
Microsoft has suggested the MCT to Windows 10 users who can no longer wait for the upgrade to come through Windows Update. But, things have changed as the company shut it down. According to Computer World, the .iso files are still accessible. Apparently, once downloaded, the November upgrade is not the one being installed, rather the original edition of Windows 10.
With this change, all Windows 10 users were in shock. Microsoft's spokesperson claims that the sudden change is intentional and all future updates should be done via Windows Update. The upgrade was available through MCT, but after a week it was pulled out by the company with no further explanation. Truth to be told, this is quite unacceptable, since Microsoft even encouraged its users to download it before being delivered through Windows Update.
Unfortunately, there are no additional reasons given by the company as to why the disappearance of 1511 from the MCT process happened. With this, Microsoft has restricted how its users can get the latest version of the Windows 10.
Microsoft has announced that it will be utilizing Windows Update to upgrade Windows 10 operating system with monthly security and twice or thrice a year updates. In addition, it has committed to provide disk images for every user to keep their devices up-to-date.
Hence, all Windows users should just wait patiently for Microsoft to deliver the Windows 10 upgrade in Windows Update. People may have been dismayed by the company's move, but it will definitely be worthy in the coming days. There might be a deeper reason behind the disappearance of the 1511 in MCT, but Microsoft has just opted to reveal as much.
